Christophe Báthory

Christophe Báthory voïvode of Transylvania of 1576 with 1581

Oldest son of Etienne Bathory voïvode of Transylvania of 1530 to his death in 1534 and of Katalin Telegdi, it is born in 1530.

He replaced in 1576 his younger brother Etienne Bathory as voïvode of Transylvania when this last was elected king of Poland He combined with the Turkish S and controlled until its death the May 27th 1581.

Of its marriage with Elisabeth Bocsai it had two children:

  • Sigismond Ier Bathory voïvode then prince de Transylvanie.

  • Grisledis marries Jan Zamoyski Chancellier of Poland.
