Christian Renonciat

Christian Renonciat (born with Paris in 1947) is a sculptor French.

Literary studies with the Sorbonne, until a license of philosophy.

Attracted by a more concrete activity, Christian Renonciat enters the workshop of Jean-Louis Gonnet in Antibes, where it collects during six years all the techniques of placement of the material which attracts it: wood. I open my own workshop in 1975 in Valbonne, where are born my first sculptures.

1976 First exposure to the gallery Alain Blondel in Paris.

With the wire of time, the sculptor developed a remarkable work at the same time by his technical quality and his effect Trompe-l'oeil, of the more hyperrealists until almost abstract work.

Since 1984, it in parallel devoted its oehyvre to monumental creation, recourtant with in very diverse materials (steel cast iron, bronzes, aluminum, gardens, etc) with often the tonality of an imaginary archeology.

Installations with Saumur, Tokyo, Sapporo, Atlanta, San Francisco, Monte Carlo, Aytré, La Rochelle, Paris, Rheims, London, Saumur, etc testify some. Christian Renonciat shares his time between his workshop of Touraine and Paris.

Judgment

" Christian Renonciat wants to make us believe that he works wood, whereas we see well that he uses the paperboard, the fabric, leather. Unless it is about the opposite? These small shorts suspended by clothespins, this folded cover, would this torn paperboard be… out of wood? Trompe-l'oeil, misleads the direction, Christian Renonciat is played of our perceptions and leaves us in balance on the vision of this reality incertain." Claude Guibert (Extracted the Chronicles of the audio-visual Encyclopedia of art contemporain" May 5th, 2005
