Chilly is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Savoie and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Turned towards the valley of Usses in north, the village is located on a slope, with a sight on the Montagne of Vuache and the village of Musièges. The Montagne of Vuache is a 13 km length dorsal chain on 1,5 km broad of altitude 700 to 1101 m (Vuache Mount), delimiting the extreme south-west of the Genevese basin.

The commune extends on the hamlets from Botilly, Coucy, Curnillex, Ferraz, Mannecy, Mougny, Quincy and Vernay.

  • Population: 939 inhabitants in 1999 (626 H in 1975, maximum 1218 H in 1901), the Chylliens .

  • Altitude: 730 m at the highest point
  • Situation: on the slope in the south of the valley of Usses

Chilly comes from the Savoyard patois chillon which means “stone punt”. The word chillon , like old French chaillou , comes him even from the Gallic caljavo “stony” which gave bottom Latin caliavum that one finds in the words stone or road-metal

Tourism

The commune is located 23 km at the North-East of Annecy (RN 508 and RD 197) and at 6 km of Frangy. It is served by:

  • the RN 508 Annecy section - Bellegarde-on-Valserine, then RD 197.
  • a40 highway, left “ Eloise ” (15 km) and a41 highway, left “ Annecy-south ” (24 km).
  • TGV or FOR THE THIRD TIME in the stations of Annecy (23 km), Bellegarde-on-Valserine (23 km), Seyssel (14 km), Culoz (27 km).
  • International airport of Geneva-Cointrin (38 km) or regional airport of Annecy (22 km).

Thanks to its Relief Small valley born, with its multiples Brook X, with its many Hedge S maintained, and with its Marsh, the common offer a Biotope varied, favourable with the development of a natural Game diversified: rabbits, hares, pheasants, roe-deers and wild boars, turdidés and woodcocks of wood.

Marsh of Chilly and Marival

The Marais are located in a whole of small depressions on a glacial plate of origin. The site was retained like site of national interest in the inventory of the Tourbière S of France.

The marshes extend on a surface from 13 hectares at an altitude located between 421 and 467 Mr. They comprise many wet meadows, ecologically exceptional, with many rare, or protected and single plant species and animal:

  • Animal remarkable: bell ringer with belly yellow ( Bombina variegata ), Blued of Sanguisorbe ( Maculinea teleius ) and Blued fens ( Maculinea nausithous )
  • remarkable Plants: Liparis de Loesel ( Liparis loeselii ), the oenanthe sinus ( Oenanthe fistulosa ), small the scutellaire ( Scutellaria minor ) and the laîche of Buxbaum ( Carex buxbaumii ).
