Cheo Feliciano
Jose " Cheo" Feliciano was born the July 3rd 1935.
He studied the music at the music school of Pounce (Puerto Rico). At 17 years, it left with its family to New York where it began its professional path as a percussionnist in the orchestra " Ciro Rimac' S Review".
He then worked in the orchestra of Tito Rodriguez as a conguero with the conjunto Marianaxi directed by the " maestro" Shine Cruz and as a percussionnist with the orquestre " Kako known there Trabuco".
Recommended by Tito Rodriguez, Cheo Feliciano passed a Audition to be the singer of the Joe Cuba Sextet, and it was pris.
Among its successes with the radio: " With mow seis" , " El ratón" (Cha-cha, which he will interpret in concert with the Fania All Stars with a famous solo of Electric guitar of Jorge Santana, the brother of Carlos Santana), " Como ríen" and " El pito" (Boogaloo).
It made a short appearance in the orchestra of Eddie Palmieri.
At the end of the year 1960, Cheo Feliciano decided to stop its career in sign of protest against the Guerre of Vietnam. Three years afterwards, it started again its career with a historical recording: " Cheo". It beat all the records of sales of the label Vaya Records with tubes like " Anacaona" , " Semi sad problema" , " Pa' that afinquen" and " If por the mí Llueve". It received many rewards and made the first page of the New York Daily News.
During its years " Fania" it produced tubes like " Juguete" , " Salomé" , " Los entierros semi gente pobre" there " Juan Albañil" and taken part in the first opera salsa " Hommy". In the years 1980, Checo Feliciano launched its independent production company: Notch Records. With the beginning of the year 1990 it completed several important projects including two albums with Rondalla Venezolana and a recording with Cuba: " Cheo in Cuba".
End 1999, Cheo Feliciano left " Una voz, Millet Recuerdos" where it pays homage to the legends of the music like Tito Rodriguez, Ismael Rivera, Frankie Ruiz, My Will rivet, Gilberto Monroig and Santitos Colón.
In 2003 it is invited by Yuri Buenaventura to sing the Duo Palo there Cuero .
