Cheikha Remitti is a singer Algérie.

Born the May 8th 1923 in Tessala, close to Sidi-Beautiful-Abbots and died the May 15th 2006 with Paris.

As for Sheik Hamada, it would be simplistic to say that it is a singer of Raï

Of country tradition, Saidia bathed in the rural song. Orphan very young person, raised by " patrons" that it left with adolescence to follow a troop of wandering musicians, the Saida young person knows misery before launching out in the song in the Forties, in Relizane, Oran and Algiers.

After independence, its songs are worth to him to be censured by the mode of the FLN. Rimitti at the same time indeed caused FLN critic and the strict Islam. Singing the gotten mixed up love, woman, alcohol, bodies, freedom, the Feminism… and governing festivals sprinkled with beer, she was very quickly been sulky by official Algeria.

She attracts herself a sulfurous reputation as of its first success, in 1954, with " Charrak gatta" , in which some see an attack against the taboo of virginity.

It gains its nickname in the bars where it ordered to the owner to give glass to him or to offer the round to the customers: " Give, give! " (a round): " rimitti" , with the accent.

Cheikha Rimitti arrives at Paris in 1979, where it animates the evenings in Community coffees. Although put at the variation by his, it becomes little by little the international ambassadress, oddly, of the spoke (it which did not support all its young fellows cheaters, said she).

It reaches even a new public at the end of the years 1990 composed of Algerian of France, their children and even of Europeans and specialists be-music.

Some will say that she was badly managed these 10 last years since its agent refused, without she knowing it, in the international concerts, requiring " for elle" astronomical seals. A concert places republic at Paris, in particular.

Cheikha Rimitti leaves a last album, " Your Goudami" (literally, " you, vis-a-vis moi").

Cheikha Rimitti is extinct on May 15th, two days after its concert with the Zenith (Paris) where she sang with the " chebs" , in particular Khaled. With its legendary humor, she said that she hoped well to give them to their place…
