Chartres in Lights
Chartres in Lights is an annual artistic event being held with Chartres.
" Rich person of an exceptional inheritance, the Town of Chartres wished in 2003 to create a popular event allowing to emphasize the historic buildings of the City and in particular the cathedral classified the world heritage of UNESCO.
the setting in festive and artistic light seemed the obvious means to animate and develop this inheritance.
It should be recalled that Chartres is already since centuries a City-Light thanks to the marvellous stained glasses which decorate several of its édifices."
During Chartres in Lights, the visitors can thus redécouvrir the Chartres-native monuments under one day new, from April at September. This demonstration is concluded by the Fête from the Light , demonstration which proceeds during one whole weekend in all the old city, and during which the streets are animated by theatrical companies and orchestras.
