Biography
Charles Ier de Hohenzollern succeeded his father in 1525. In 1534, it obtained Charles Quint the county of Sigmaringen, the county of Veringen.
With its death its strongholds were shared between its four sons, thus was born the lines from:
Hohenzollern-Hechingen of Eitel-Frederic Ier de Hohenzollern-Hechingen,
Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen of Charles II of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen,
Hohenzollern-Haigerloch of Christophe de Hohenzollern-Haigerloch,
Hohenzollern-Hohenzollern of Joachim de Hohenzollern.
Genealogy
Charles Ier belongs to the fourth branch resulting from the first branch of the Maison of Hohenzollern. This fourth line belongs to the branch of Souabe of the House of Hohenzollern, this line died out in 1869 with died of Constantin de Hohenzollern-Hechingen. Charles Ier de Hohenzollern is the ascending one of Michel Ier of Romania.
