Charles Ier de Bourbon (archbishop of Rouen)

Charles 1st of Bourbon , born on September 22nd, 1523 and died in 1590, is a cardinal French, also archbishop of Rouen of 1550 with its death, and the puîné brother of Antoine of Bourbon, father of Henri {{IV}} (he is thus his uncle).
He is the son of Charles {{IV}}, duke of Vendôme, and Francoise d' Alençon.
Bishop of Nevers at the seventeen years age (1540 - 1545), then of Holy in 1544, he is cardinal in 1548, then becomes archbishop of Rouen in 1550. It is moreover bishop of Nantes of 1550 with 1554 and papal legate in Avignon of 1565 with 1590. In 1551, it is named Lieutenant-general government of Paris and Ile-de-France, equipped with all the benefit of the cardinal of Châtillon. He is the abbot of the Abbaye of Saint-Wandrille of 1569 to 1578.
He is named bishop of Beauvais in 1572. He dislocates himself this évêché in 1575 per exchange with Nicolas Fumée, abbot of the Seam. He is the first commander of the Ordre of the Holy Spirit, during the first promotion, on December 31st, 1578.
In 1584, with died of the duke of Alençon, the members of a league regard it as the heir to the throne of France, excluding from the succession all the Protestant . Henri {{III}} the fact of stopping and, in 1589, when the members of a league proclaim it king de France under the name of thousand-year-old Charles Ve front J. - C. , it was always imprisoned with Fontenay-the-Count. He ends up giving up itself this royalty, and recognizes the legitimacy of his nephew Henri V. He dies the following year.
