Charles Helou

Charles Helou (Arab: شارلالحلو) (born the September 25th 1913 - January 7th 2001) was President of the Republic of the Lebanon of 1964 with 1970.

Born with Beirut, wire of a family Maronite. He was lawyer, fine well-read man and journalist. Its tormented presidency was marked by the conclusion of the agreement of Cairo of November 3rd, 1969 between Arafat and the general Emile Boustani about the Palestinian presence armed in Lebanon, this agreement becoming thereafter one of the direct leading causes of the Lebanese Guerre.

He was ambassador of Lebanon to the the Vatican in 1947, Minister for Justice and Health (1954-1955), Minister for Education (1964). He was after his presidency, a president of International association of the members of Parliament of languages Frenchwoman (today parliamentary Parliament of the Francophonie), of 1972 to 1979, qualified by Edgar Faure of " chair more présidentiel".
