Charles-Albert Costa de Beauregard

Charles-Albert Costa de Beauregard (May 24th 1835 with the Mound-Servolex - February 16th 1909 with Paris) is a French historian and politician.

Grandson of Joseph Henri Costa de Beauregard and wire of Pantaléon Costa de Beauregard, he is general adviser of Savoy as of the Annexation of the province in France in 1860. He takes part in the war free-Prussian as a commander of the 1st battalion of the mobiles of Savoy, and he is wounded and made captive at the time of the Bataille of Lizaine to Bethoncourt in January 1871. He is appointed of Savoy in 1871, then withdraws himself from the policy to devote itself to the history of his family, from Savoy and monarchy. He is elected member of the French Academy in 1896.

Its most important works are a trilogy on the king Charles-Albert of Savoy and the historical Mémoires on the royal house of Savoy where it completes the work undertaken by his grandfather in 1816.
