Charente-native Local wine

The Charente-native Local wine is a wine of geographic origin.

To be entitled to the denomination, the wines must result from grape harvest collected in the departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime.

It can be added to the mention Charente-native Local wine, following geographical designations:

  • Island of Oléron, for the wines produced on the whole of the communes of the island of Oléron, in Charente-Maritime.

To be entitled to the denomination, the wines must come from the Cépage S following:

The denomination is granted only to the wines obtained within the limit of an output not having to exceed 80 hectolitres per hectare of vines in production.

The vines suited must have a density of plantation of at least 4.000 feet per hectare, with an interval between the rows of 2,50 meters maximum.

The denomination Charente-native Local wine can be supplemented by the name of a type of vine; in this case the wines must result from exclusively planted surfaces of type of vine concerned and appearing in the following list:

  • red wines: frank cabernet, cabernet-sauvignon, gamay, merlot.

  • white wines: chenin, chardonnay, colombard, sauvignon white, gray sauvignon.

Each type of vine is then vinified separately and the name of type of vine is reproduced on each container.

The name of two type of vines can appear if, before assembly of the wines resulting from these two type of vines, each wine with fact the object of an approval with type of vine indication.

None of two type of vines can then represent less than 20% of the assembly.

During approval, the Charente-native Local wine must present a voluminal title alcoholometric equal to or higher than 11% vol.
