Championship of the world of hockey 1938

The championship of the world of Hockey 1938 was the twelfth edition. It took place between the 11 and the February 20th 1938 with Prague in, today town of Tchèquie. Fourteen nations took part in the tournament. The Canada is represented by the amateur team of Wolves of Sudbury.

First turn

The nations are divided into two hens of five and one hen of four. The three best teams of each hens are qualified for the continuation of the tournament.

Second turn

The nine qualified teams are arranged in three hens of three nations and only four of these teams will continue the tournament.

It was decided by the organizing committee of the tournament to qualify Germany rather than Sweden or Switzerland because they had succeeded in obtaining the tie against Canadian in regulatory time.

Final stage

Match for the fifth place

The match for the fifth place took place on February 19th and saw the victory of the Swedish over the Swiss over the score of 2 goals with 0.

Semi-finals

The semi-finals also proceeded on February 19th.

Match for the third place

The match for the bronze medal proceeded on February 20th. Finally, in fact the Czechoslovakian gained the bronze medal by beating 3 to 0 the German .

Finale

The final took place on February 20th and once again, the Canadian gained the gold medal. They beat the Great Britain 3 goals with 1.
