Chamaves

The Chamaves are people of Germanie established before in current Hamaland between Lippe and Yssel, they occupied at the 4th century the low grounds of the Holland, in the north of the the Rhine.

Their true name would be Hamaves , the Romans often adding C in front of H. the word ham would come from Germanic the haimaz or home in English, hamlet in French. Ham would mean colony of hamlet, or hamlet. Hamaves would be the men of the hamlets or the colonies of hamlets, or the colonists ( settlers ).

According to Ferdinand Batch, the tribe included the Saliens Francs in the beginning, and it is established at the 5th century in Veluwe and the Saline one in Holland, forsaken by the Salliens Francs.
