Chaitanya
Chaitanya or Vishvam Bharmishra Krishna Chaitanya Deva (Nadîyâ, Bengal, 1486 - Puri, 1533) is a philosopher and reforming Bengali Hindou of expression E and Sanskrit E.
With his friend Vallabhâchârya, it redynamisa the worship krishnaïte and introduced in Bengal and in Orissâ an original form of the Bhakti, the prema bhakti , the dévotionnelle worship of Krishna. Chaitanya, qualified by after “Sri Krishna Caitanya” is at the origin of an intense worship dévotionnel characterized by collective songs and rates/rhythms during which are stressed the saints names of Krishna (the maha Mantra “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Kirshna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rowed Rowed Hare Hare”. There also exists in parallel a practice of songs which, at the side of Mahamantra (but without never exceeding it) states the “Lilacs” i.e. the Entertainments of Krishna in the Indian Holy City of Vrindavana (which remains thus at our time the World center of this spirituality to the Glory of Title Sri Krishna), these Entertainments must be besides read, read again and meditated by the true excessively pious people of Krishna, (note in addition that Bhagavad Gita remains cement and the base of the Faith with Krishna). These dévotionnelles methods of collective songs, the Sankîrtan , plunge the excessively pious person in a dévotionnelle extase with the divinity, the “being devout” applying in its own existence the message of the Bhagavad Gita in which Krishna regards as its Seul and Single truth Dévot , that which is given up fully with Him, deviating from the pleasures and benefit from the material life, renonçant with the fruits of its actions for all to offer to Krishna but not renonçant therefore acting, working, to have a personal life, social and family…
In Occident, and inter alia French language, the essence of the literature related to this worship initiated by Sri Caitanya, is found in the immense work translated into tens of language, of Srila Prabhupada, which created in Occident in the middle of the years 1960 - and since 1971 in France it “movement for the conscience of Krishna” which counts all over the world with the 21e century more than 150 centers, temples and rural communities.
The originality of the worship with Krishna according to Caitanya lies in the fact that this spirituality is opened with all, whatever its social status, its last origin, its personal situation or even its errors… moreover, one considers that “each step carried out on the way of Bhakti”, i.e. of the Devotion towards Krishna, “is never lost, however modest”… Krishna is presented like the Person Supreme and Original, who is in all, all is here in him, “immutable, with only one piece of myself, me present at this whole universe”, declares Krishna in Bhagavad Gita.
Chaitanya, left, for very written, only 8 verses called Siksastakam :
-
Glory with the sankirtana of Sri Krishna. Our hearts it sweeps all impure things accumulated during the ages, it extinguishes the fire burning of the conditioned existence, with its births and died without end. The Movement of the sankirtana spreads on all the men the largest blessing, diffusing its rays like the benevolent moon. Heart of the spiritual knowledge, it makes grow the ocean of absolute happiness, it gives us to fully enjoy the nectar of which we languish unceasingly.
- Your Nom saint only can, O Lord, to fill the heart of all the graces. However, of the Names sublimes, You have some ad infinitum, such Krishna, or Govinda, which You invested of all Your spiritual powers; to sing them, no strict rule. In your infinite mercy, O Lord, You allow that one approaches easily You by the song of Your Noms saints, but in my misfortune, I am not capable of any attraction for them.
- the saints Names of the Lord, one should sing them without claim no, in all humility, while being considered less than one wisp of straw in the street, while becoming more tolerant than the tree and always ready to offer to others its regards. In such a spirit, at this point in time one can without end sing the Noms saints of the Lord.
- O Lord the Almighty! I aspire by no means to the richnesses, I do not dream of pretty women, and does not seek many disciples. I want to only absorb myself without end, life after life, in Your service of pure and absolute love.
- I am Your servant eternal, O Krishna, wire of Nanda Maharaj, and however, for a reason or another, here me is deposed in the ocean of the material existence. Thus please, tears off me with these waves of died and rebirths, I changes in an atom of dust under Your feet similar-with-lotus.
- When thus, O Lord, my eyes they of a ceaseless flood of tears of love will be avoided by reciting Your Noms saints? When thus my words be strangled will by pronouncing Your Noms saints, and when thus all the hairs of my body they with the song of Your Noms saints will be drawn up?
- I so feel You far from me, O Govinda, that each moment seems to me twelve years or more, one eternity, and of the floods of tears spout out of my eyes. The whole universe appears empty to me in Your absence.
- Krishna remains and will remain always my single Seigneur, had it to crush me under Its pressure or to break me the heart by Its absence. Total is Its freedom to act with Its own way in all circumstances, It does not remain about it less the eternal object whom I adore, without putting conditions at it.
Let us note however that to its continuation, to the wire of the centuries, many devout Saints perfectly absorptive in krishna, offered songs, poems and comments of a rare quality and a refinement (Srila Bhaktivinoda, Srla Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati, Srila Prabhupada…), the worship with Sri Krsna caitanya perdure in Occident of which in France with a rural community in Indre (News will mayapura) or in Paris region (Temple with Noisy-the-Large), without forgetting several small groups of excessively pious people initiated or not with the faith “Bhakti” (one names these believers the “Bhaktas”) active in the South/Southern West (Ariège…) or in the East of France (in company of Swiss excessively pious people, Burgundy, Franche-Comté). One will also note in the French-speaking world, the presence since 1979 of an imposing community of 80/90 individuals in the Belgian Ardennes in the community “Radhadesh” installed with the castle of Septon/Durbuy.
Shaken in the years 1970 in France by some deviances and errors of some, the movement called “Hare Krishna” tries to reappear under one day new, while wanting from now on to post the serious and sincere image which constitutes besides the spirit of this international Movement on the five continents.
