Cerezo Ōsaka (セレッソ大阪) is a club of Football Japanese based with Ōsaka and evolving/moving in J. League. The name Cerezo comes from Spanish Cerise who is also a flower of Ōsaka.
The team started to play under the aegis of the company Yanmar . In 1994, it gained championship JFL and was promoted in J. League J1 in 1995. In 2001, it finishes last and was relegated in J. League J2. It finishes second in 2002 and reached the J. League J1 in 2003. In 2005, Cerezo misses by little the title by conceding the tie vis-a-vis FC Tokyo (2-2) and leaves the title to the rival club the Gamba Osaka. In 2006, after one catastrophic season the club is relegated in J. League J2
