Centon
A centon is a literary work made up of elements taken again with one or more others, and rearranged so as to form a different text. The term is of Latin origin ( cento ) and indicates in the beginning a roll of material made of rapiécés pieces.
The kind was very practiced during the late Antiquité, with the Moyen-âge and the 17th century. Works of Homère and Virgile were most frequently used. The bridal Centon of Ausone (369) thus consists of worms of the Bucoliques , of Énéide and of the Géorgiques .
