Cd. Comics

cd. Comics is one of the two principal editors states-uniens of cartoons, called Comic S (with Marvel Comics). Cd. Comics belongs to the conglomerate Time Warner. During many years, their buildings were located at the 666 of the fifth avenue with New York; in the years 1990s, they moved to the 1700 of Broadway. Initial “cd.” are an abbreviation of “Detective Comics”, but were also " détournées" of their original direction to indicate cd. like the " Distinguished Concurrence".

Cd. comprises two subsidiary companies: Vertigo, rather dedicated to the Fantastic and Wildstorm rather dedicated to the Science fiction and of the more modern super-heroic adventures.

History

The editor is resulting from the amalgamation of 3 companies: National Allied Publications, Detective Comics, and AlAmerican Publications. The first two companies amalgamated in the years 1930s to become thereafter National Comics (famous National Periodical Publications ) and the third divided their offices until it is repurchased in 1945. At that time, “cd.” was only one abstract logo used regularly on the covers.

To regulate the problems involved in the coexistence of version modern and old of its characters like those repurchased at other publishers, cd. publishes in 1985 at the time of the fifty years of the company the crossover Crisis one infinity earths. It is about a series in twelve parts scenarized by Marv Wolfman and drawn by George Perez. This series reinvents completely the Univers cd. while getting rid of the concept of Ground multiples such as it was used since years, regarded as confused. During this saga, one thus attended with the disappearance of many heroes and the installation of the bases which were used for a total restarting of the chronology of universe cd.

In 1998, cd. repurchased Wildstorm, one of the studios composing Image Comics with Jim Lee, which preserves the direction of it.

In 2005, cd. launches in answer to the label Ultimate of Marvel, the label All-Star, which must present “iconic” adventures more of heroes cd. by authors in sight. The idea is to present adventures out of any continuity, accessible to all, and based on the element of the characters that everyone knows. The first two launched series are All Star Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder by Frank Miller and Jim Lee and Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. Same year cd. also changed logo.
