Castle of Stors
the Château of Stors is located on the slopes of the valley of the Oise (left bank), in the hamlet of Stors (commune of Isle-Adam, in the Val-d'Oise). The field, which extends on the communes from Isle-Adam and Mériel, is included in the classified site of the Vallée of Chauvry. To the XIXe century, it extended until on other bank from the river, the kitchen garden being on the territory of what is today the commune of Butry-on-Oise.
History
The lords of the manor of Stors to XVIe century are the Duval family, of the close relations of the king Charles IX and Catherine de Médicis. The castle is built at the beginning of the XVIIIe century to replace the family castle as of Aubespine de Verderonne, their successors. It is acquired in 1746 by Louis François of Bourbon-Conti to place there its favorite M {{me}} Panneau of Arty, then the countess of Boufflers, which receives there in particular Horace Walpole and the Encyclopédistes. Prince de Conti made there work the architect Pierre Telling of Ivry. In 1783, the castle, as the remainder of the properties of the prince, is sold with the future Louis XVIII subject to usufruct. He is declared quite national with the Revolution.Stors becomes with the XIXe century the property of the 3rd duke of Valmy, royalist deputy of Toulouse, then of the family Cheuvreux which receives writers and statesmen there. Leon Say, nephew of Mister and Mrs Cheuvreux, is withdrawn there to prepare its speeches. By heritage, the castle passes to the Lannes de Montebello.
Seriously damaged by the Bombardment S combined during the Second world war, the castle and part of its park remain with the abandonment until their repurchase in 1999 by a couple of impassioned. Threatened a time of demolition, it is currently in restoration.

In the gardens, the double monumental terrace of the XVIIIème century is allotted to Pierre Telling of Ivry. It is about a true theater of stone and greenery dominating the castle and the Oise. The underground terrace and its rooms are registered since 2001 with the additional inventory of the historic buildings as well as the elliptic basin, and the two small houses restored by Louis-Charles Boileau in the style of the pagoda of Chanteloup. As for the landscape park, which included/understood several parts of water and many factories now disappeared, it would have been created by Louis-Sulpice Varé, very credit in the area of Isle-Adam.

the Vault parochial co. Madeleine, built in XIIe century for the inhabitants of the hamlet of Stors, was rebuilt between 1564 and 1574 per Rene Duval, lord of Stors. Under Conti, the worship is served there by the Joséphites. The remarkable frontage with oculus of the XVIIIe century is allotted to Pierre Telling of Ivry. The building is very altered at the beginning of the XIXe century at the request of the third duke of Valmy, and is arranged internally under the Second Empire. One found there in particular the counterpart of the mausoleum of Louise Cheuvreux, buried in Rome, in the Saint-Louis church of the French. Already damaged during the Second world war, the vault was partially destroyed by the fall of a tree and fell in ruin. It has just been restored within the framework of an operation of patronage (Foundation of the Inheritance, Fondation Maxime Goury-Laffont, Association of Safeguard of Stors).

With 800 meters of the castle, on the commune of Mériel, the Mill of Stors or mill Perrot (XVIe century), was transformed for the Cheuvreux and Lannes de Montebello into gentilhommière in the Style troubadour. Work was undertaken by Louis-Charles Boileau which took as a starting point the decorations of Chenonceau for the interiors. This manor is surrounded by beautiful a Landscaped garden the. The pond, disappeared during the XXe century, left room to Marais constituting a exceptional Biotope in Île-de-France.

On the field is also the old house (XVIIe century) of the frontier runners, in charge of the service of vat on the river, known as Tournebride .
