Castle of Puymartin

The castle of Puymartin of the 15th century, 16th century and 17th century is located in France at 8 km of Sarlat and 11 km of the Eyzies, on the commune of Marquay in the department of the the Dordogne, in area Aquitaine. Classified, worth visiting.

History

The construction of the castle began at the 13th century.

In 1357, the castle becomes English possession

The Consuls of Sarlat repurchase the field with English and give up it.

Radulphe de Saint-Clar rebuilds the castle in 1450.

At the 16th century, Raymond de Saint-Clar repurchases the castle and pushes back the Protestants. It is him which takes again Sarlat with the huguenots under the name of Capitaine of Puymartin

With the 17th century, Jean de Saint-Clar and his Suzanne sister dispute the possession of the castle during 40 years. Suzanne becomes about it finally owner.

The castle is abandoned at the 18th century.

At the 19th century, the marquis Marc de Carbonnier de Marzac, grandfather of the current owner, restore the castle in a neo-gothic style thanks to the dowry of his wife.

After the death of the owner, the count Henri de Montbron, on July 31st, 2002, his wife and his children inherited it in 2003.
