The castle of Jarnac does not exist any more
history
- in the island Vaujompe, the first Donjon date of the 10th century, built thinks to you one by Gardrad the Rich person, count of Walk and lord of Jarnac which founded the Abbaye Bassac in 1017.
- it is rebuilt at the 12th century and passes by marriage, like the Cognac castle, with the son of Richard Lion-hearted Philippe de Falcombridge and thus under the domination of the house of England. It is sold with Jean without Ground whose widow remarie with Hugues X of Lusignan, it often changes hands until 1387 when, already ransacked, it is shaved and it does not remain about it whereas the Romance tower.
- Charles of Orleans, prisoner of English, sells his stronghold of Jarnac, to pay its ransom, in Renaud Chabot who rebuilds the fortress partly. It is his/her son Guy Chabot of Saint-Froze who was the author of the " blow of jarnac"
- Charles-Rosalie of Rohan-Chub makes do work of handing-over to the last style to leave de1769, in particular with the creation of a landscape park.
- the part going back to Renaud Chabot of the 15th century still forms a whole of six round towers which remains until the period of the empire.
