Castle of Caernarfon
The castle of Caernarfon was built with Caernarfon in the north of the Wales, by the king Edouard Ier of England, following its victorious countryside on the principality.
Context
Edouard Ier made build many castles in the north of Wales to manage to subject the Welsh, following his conquests on the principality in 1277 and of the defeat of Prince de Galles, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Other large fortresses of this " ring of fer" ( iron boxing ring ) were the castle of Beaumaris, that of Conwy and that of Harlech, but that of Caernarfon was probably its more famous realization.
Construction
Begun in 1283 during the rising lacked Llywelyn, it obtained its more or less current contours in 1323. It completed forever, and still today one can see in various places of the joints ready to accommodate new interior walls which were never built. The contemporary files indicate that construction would have cost a few 22.000 pounds sterling, a sum considerable for the time, equivalent to more than one year of incomes of the royal treasure. The linear shape of the castle is sophisticated compared to British castle preceding, and the walls be-saying would have been modelled according to those of Constantinople, Edouard Ier having taken part in the Croisade S. the castle dominates water of the Détroit of Carried out separating the island from Anglesey, which was of a great strategic importance lasting the Welsh campaigns of Edouard Ist.
History
During the rising of 1294 - 1295, Caernarfon was besieged, but the garrison approvionnée by the sea and could be raised in spring 1295. In 1403 E 1404 the castle resisted the seat of the forces of Owain Glyndŵr. During the First English revolution, its garrison royal went to the forces of the Members of Parliament in 1646.

the castle was used in 1911 for the nomination of the Prince de Galles, the future Edouard VIII of the United Kingdom, because of its bonds passed with the English crown. It was a precedent, which was repeated in 1969 for the nomination of Charles, prince de Galles.
