Castle of Annecy
The museum-castle of Annecy which dominates the old city was bought by the town of Annecy which restored it and transformed into museum.
History
The castle was built over one period of the XII {{E}} at the 16th century. It was used as residence with the Counts de Genève and the dukes of Genevese-Nemours.The castle has several times be victim of Incendie S, it was left with the abandonment at the 17th century.
It was recovered then to be used as barracks until in 1947.
The town of Annecy acquired the castle in 1953, with the assistance of the Historic buildings restored it and installed a museum there.
Since 1993, the Tower and the Home Stone quarry shelter the regional Observatory of the alpine lakes.
Description
- the Tower of the Queen, massive, is the oldest part of the castle, it dates from XIIe century. Its walls have a thickness of more than four meters.

- the Tower and the Home Stone quarry at the bottom of the court date from XVe century.

The regional observatory of the alpine lakes
One finds- there an archaeological exposure on the first settlement of the lake;
- of the aquariums presenting of fish of the various types of mountainous lake;
- a model of its mountainous environment and Annecy Lake;
- of the models of boats which evolved/moved on the lake;
- an exhibition of equipment of fishing used in the alpine lakes.

Museum of alpine popular art
One finds many sculptures and of regional paintings there. As well as an important collection of trunks, cradles, armchair, cupboards, beds, tables, chairs, objects carved, photographs and models of châlets of mountain pastures.
Temporary exhibitions
Exposures are accommodated and frequently renewed, the topics are varied enough from it. Classic art with the contemporary art while passing at the time of the festival of cartoon film to exposures on the topic of cinematographic animation.
