Castle Faintness
The castle Malaise is a listed monument on December 2nd, 1982.
Known under the name “Catiau Faintness”, but also strong house, bastionnet or castelet of Huissignies, this massive construction goes back to the Moyen-âge.
Surrounded by fed ditches, formerly by the Hunelle, diverted with the profit of the Babechin, built in the beginning on a rectangular level, this construction had all the characteristics of the Norman Donjon S traditional. Upwards the storerooms, the room of weapons follow one another, the home on the floor, the capped roofs of a bâtière with overflowing croups.
To the median cord, the defense of the lower part was ensured by thick walls whereas the upper part was only one kind of view-point in filled cob half-timbering, supporting a frame.
The oldest part dates from the 12th century, the tower joined in north dates from the 16th century, the upper part was rehabilitated and increased towards the south at the 19th century.
The tower was used of “retirement” (prison) and as latrines. A Colombier chapeautait the whole.
On the floor, on the side is, took down a vault dedicated to Sainte Cecile. The door bored in the western frontage, surmounted weapons of Aremberg, was protected from a harrow sliding in the thickness of the wall, ordered by a bourriquet since the roofs. This private field is not accessible.
