Castle-the-Vallière
Castle-the-Vallière is a common French, located in the department of Indre-et-Loire and the area Center. Its inhabitants is called Castelvalériens , Castelvalériennes.
Geography
The commune is located at 35 km in the North-West of Tours (Indre-et-Loire), 55 km in the south of the Mans (the Sarthe) and to 60 km in the east of Angers (Maine-et-Loire).
History
Under the Old Mode, Castle-the-Vallière formed integral part of the Anjou and more precisely of the secondary seneschalsy of Baugé (dependant on the principal seneschalsy of Angers) until the French revolution.
The locality was called “ Castle-in-Anjou ” before in May 1667, Louis XIV does not set up Vaujours (current commune of Castle-the-Vallière) in duchy and does not offer it to Louise of Vallière, her former mistress.
During the creation of the French departments in 1790, all the oriental party of the Anjou, Castle-the-Vallière in north until Bourgueil in the south while passing by the field of the castle of Gizeux, was attached to the very new department of the Indre-et-Loire.
