Cascadia

The name Cascadia comes from the Chaîne of the Cascades ( Cascade Arranges English ), a volcanic assembly line extending on the west coast from the United States between the States from California, the Oregon Washington and the Colombia-British in Canada (but which is called Coast Range on its Canadian part). It indicates various areas or geological zones of the North-West of North America

  • Zone of subduction of Cascadia: zone where the Plaque Juan de Fuca is inserted under the North-American Plaque in the Pacific Ocean, off the coasts of the North-West of North America, zone generators of important seisms of which:

  • a écorégion including/understanding the coastal regions of the South-eastern of Alaska, the British Columbia, the Oregon, the State of Washington and the California of north
  • Name given to the area of the North-West of North America, contours not clearly definite between California and the Alaska and which include/understand the states of Washington of the Oregon and the Canadian province of the Colombia-British. Sometimes one includes there also the American state of the Idaho and the Canadian province of the Alberta. In the United States, the term “Cascadia” can be more restrictive and be limited to the only territories contiguous states-uniens (except Alaska).
People of this area are bound by the geography, by the experiment of nature, the distance of the capitals (Ottawa and Washington) and by a more liberal and tolerant company, but without the excess which characterizes the California. The urban centres most important of Cascadia would be Seattle, Vancouver, Portland and Victoria.
* Cascadia or republic of Cascadia, a proposal of independent state in this area.
