Carta of amor

Carta of amor (Letter of Love) is a song of the Dominican Juan Luis Guerra which is reproduced at the origin on the album Bachata Rosa (left in 1991, better record sales of World music in the world this year there) then on compilation Grandes Exitos de Juan Luis Guerra Y 440 .

It is neither a Bachata nor a Merengue, rates/rhythms Dominican to which Juan Luis Guerra is accustomed, but a Salsa (a kind adopted by the Dominican ones, the such flutist Johnny Pacheco (founder of the legendary label Fania), Jose Alberto " El Canario" , Cuco Valoy and so much of others…).
Razones on the preceding album ( Ojalá that llueva Coffee left in 1990) was its first salsa and he will interpret two others of them then, Quisiera then Los dinteles .

Among the musicians appear the cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba (already present for Razones ) and Porto Rican (or of originating in the island) Pichi Perez (Maracas), Santiago Martinez (timbal), Gadwin Vargas (Congas), Alberto Machuca (which played with Tito Rojas, Tito Gomez,…) (Bongo S) and Hector Santana (low).

The words speak about a man who writes love letters with his wife who left it so that it returns, this one, in an amusing way, seems to dictate to us or Récit er its letters (including the signs of Ponctuation), the song starts as follows: " Dear woman, Colon, do not make me suffer, Virgule… "

One notes in the choruses at the end of the song that Juan Luis Guerra launches a short call (almost a subliminal Message): " Release Mandela ".

The song is completed on the word Postdata (Post-scriptum), and this complementary message thus should be imagined…
