Carlos Ward

Carlos Ward (born on May 1st 1940 with Ancón with the Panamá) is a saxophonist and flutist of Jazz. Its first instrument was the clarinet which he learned at 13 years whereas he lived with Seattle (Washington). Later it integrated the Naval college of music and played with Albert Mangelsdorff whereas it was stationed in Germany.

Ward played with John Coltrane in 1965-66 although it does not appear on any recording.

Ward was associated a long time with Don Cherry, its duet with Abdullah Ibrahim is also outstanding.

Ward belonged to the group of Cecil Taylor during the time which followed the death of the altist Jimmy Lyons.

He was also member of The ED Blackwell Project and directed his own four-bit byte in 1987
