August Christoph Carl Vogt was a Naturaliste and Médecin Suisse of German origin .

It was born the July 5th 1817 with Gießen, in Germany, where it studies the Médecine and the Chimie (under the direction of Justus Liebig) â the Université of Gießen. In 1845 it undertakes new studies with the Sorbonne and Nice. During its stay in France it meets Socialists like Pierre Joseph Proudhon, Karl Marx and Mikhaïl Aleksandrovitch Bakounine.

In 1848 he becomes professor at the University of Gießen thanks to the recommendations of Justus Liebig and Alexander von Humboldt.
