Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig , born the December 29th 1816 with Witzenhausen, deceased the April 23rd 1895) was a Médecin and German Physiologiste. He makes his studies of medicine to Marburg and Erlangen.
He is professor of Physiologie 1842 and of Comparative anatomy in 1846. After having taught with Zurich and Vienna it is named in 1865 at the University of Leipzig where it creates the Institute of Physiology to which it will leave its name. Ludwig devoted to fields of research such as the physiology of the blood Pressure, the urinary excretion and the Anesthésie. It accepted the Médaille Copley in 1884.
Since 1932 the Honorary Medal Carl Ludwig is decreed by the German Company of Cardiology to researchers of exception in the cardiovascular field.
