Careful Saint of Narbonne was born in a noble family from Narbonne at the 3rd century. Saint-Careful the festival the October 6th.
He studied the letters and was a brilliant pupil. He was elected Archidiacre city. But the holiness of its life and the miracles which are allotted to him caused hatred and the fury at its enemies. He was imprisoned and tortured. But as he refused to give up his faith, its torturers broke the cranium to him.
Saint Prudent was one of the first Martyr S of the Church of Narbonne. The Christians buried his body. Then its persecutors unearthed it and threw its remainders grazes about it with the birds of prey and the other wild beasts. But it is said that God kept his bones and moved away the animals which should have devoured them. It thus made it possible faithful to collect them once again and to protect them from any other profanation.
When peace returned, the relics of the saint were deposited in a tomb on which was high an oratorical . The Christians came to collect themselves and request there.
It broke the connected bonds of two: an inhabitant of Bourberain, an Humbert de Rozières. It ressuscita three people: a drowned child with Lux, Siméon of Bèze fallen from the bridge of Bèze and involved by large water and another child drowned of Bèze fallen into the river in 1225. In the year 1116, Prudent saint will cure a blind newborn, an young man of Flacey had demon and a paralyzed man of the hand.
In 882, Geilon, bishop of Langres which returned from Saint-Jacob de Compostelle, stopped in a hotel close to Narbonne to spend the night there. It learned there that in a vault not very far away from hotel trade the relics of the Prudent martyr rested. The bishop goes there, it kneels with respect in front of the furnace bridge and the thought to him had just carried these relics. He asks for the opinion of his chaplain and takes the crowned bones and hastens towards the Burgundy. This “piles larceny” was given in present by the bishop to the monks of Bèze in 883 so that these relics are more with the range of the faithful ones. The relics were placed at the entry of the gantry of the monastery. In front of the multitude of the pilgrims come to honor the saint martyr, the monks had to build not far a roomy vault where the bust of the saint was brought.
But the monastery of Bèze does not enjoy a long time this invaluable deposit. In 887, to the approach of the Norman , the monks of Bèze carried the relics to Saint-Etienne of Dijon but when they wanted to take them again, the Dijoneses refused there. Gauthier, bishop of Langres, bishop of the place, had to intervene to oblige them to return the relics. The monks of Saint-Etienne pretended to incline themselves, but actually, they gave to the monks the body of another saint called Sylvain. The fraud was uncovered and holy Prudent was renewed in large pump with Bèze on September 23rd 921.
