Capitole (train)

Capitole is a train connecting Toulouse to Paris - Austerlitz (Ligne Paris-Toulouse).

Launched in 1967, it was initially tractor drawn by locomotive BB 9200 pertaining to a park including/understanding two, then four and finally six machines equipped to tensile-test to 200 km/h between Aubrais and Vierzon. These engines was also called BB 9200 Capitole. They only tow cars UIC of First class. The oars take one delivered red with a band gray dolphin under bays, slicing with the uniform green coach. It is success very quickly.

Vis-a-vis the multitude, Capitole must often be doubled, even supplemented by cars suited at a speed of 200 km/h, but to delivered green. Lengthening, and thus the heaviness of the trains, return the BB 9200 insufficient.

In 1970, more powerful DC 6500 appear, matched with the cars Grand Comfort. They ensure a service of great quality and in 1982, cars are modified for the use of the second class. The service loses then the label TEE.

The cars are replaced by Corails in 1996. Since 2004, the service is ensured by Corail Téoz, but the name of this train is not used any more officially.

This train entered the current language so much so that the word “Capitole” is always used to differentiate the service TGV via Bordeaux from direct by Limoges and Aubrais.

NB: this train was really created in 1960 and was only re-equipped in 1967 to be able to circulate at the speed of 200km/h (Source the SNCF).
