A canyon , cañon or gun (of the Catalan canyó ) or throat is a valley steepsided and narrow with the cut vertical walls, generally, in bases Calcaire S in relief Karstique. Canyons can be also formed in the Schiste S, the sandstone or in the volcanic rocks.
Canyon can be written cañon, it is the only word of the French language with a Tilde.
At the origin of the formation process, the hydrographic network ran slowly on contributions argilo-limestones spread out over vast Plaine S. Following tectonic movements, the basic level being modified (plains being raised or the basic level being lowered), the rivers were boxed, their speed being accelerated under the effect of a stronger slope and their flow, having been able to be increased, because of more abundant precipitations
