Canadian museum of contemporary photography

The Canadian Museum of contemporary photography (MCPC) (English: Canadian Museum off Contemporary Photography ) is the Musée photographic arts of Canada. Founded in 1985 and affiliated with the Museum of the fine arts of Canada, it is located at the 1 Canal Curtain with Ottawa, between the Château Bay-tree and the Canal Curtain.

The collection goes back to 1939, assembled then by the Stills Photography Division of the National office of film of Canada which did not take place permanent of exposure until the creation of the museum. The building, innauguré the May 7th 1992, was drawn by the architect Michael Lundhom, who transformed an old railway tunnel which ran along the Castle Bay-tree. The made entry of glass and concrete points out the colonnades leading to the Museum of the fine arts, it guides the visitor with the principal part of the museum located under the level of the street.
