Calexico (group)

See also: Calexico

Calexico is a group of music oscillating between Mariachi S and planing music originating in the Arizona. Joey Burns and John Convertino are the two founding members of the group, they played together for the first time at Los Angeles in the group Giant Sand.

The origin of the name of the group comes from the town of Calexico, a city to California of the south bordering the Mexican border.

Antithesis of the states-unien group of violent rock'n'roll, uncultivated and folded up on itself, their music is alleviating and planing, and they do not hesitate to integrate elements of foreign culture (words in French, musics Latin, Mexican orchestras and Canadian musicians). A scientist proportioning of rock'n'roll, blues, jazz, of country and mariachi make their music indefinable in the world of the rock'n'roll.
