Bugatti Automobiles SAS is a founded Car manufacturer in 1998 like subsidiary company of the German group Volkswagen AG and successor of the legendary mark Bugatti.

Bugatti under Volkswagen AG

In 1998 the German group Volkswagen AG repurchases the mark Bugatti and requires of famous the Designer Italy N Giorgetto Giugiaro of the company Turin oise ItalDesign to produce two prototypes inspired of the Bugatti EB 112 (of the Designer Ferdinand Piëchde of Bugatti Automobili SpA):

  • the Bugatti EB 118, driving 18 cylinders out of W, 6.2 liters, 555 horses, 320 km/h, design and spirit very inspired of the Standard Bugatti 50 of 1932.

  • the even driving Bugatti EB 218 that preceding, design and spirit very inspired of the Standard Bugatti 41 " Royal " of 1926, to compete with Rolls Royce and Bentley.

In 2000 the company Bugatti Cars SAS , based with Dorlisheim (3 km in the south of the historic site Bugatti of Molsheim in Alsace and 20 km in the west of Strasbourg) lance the project of the Bugatti Veyron, driving 16 cylinders out of W, 64 valves, quadri-turbo, 8 liters, 1001 horses, 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, 408.47 km/h (road car of the fastest, luxurious and powerful series of the world at its exit), limps 7 reports/ratios with sequential control, integral transmission, tires of 20 inches at the price of 1.000.000 euros net of tax (either 1.196.000 euros including all taxes).

In 2003 Thomas Bscher succeeds Karl-Heinz Neumann with the head of the company.
