Bud Poile

Bud Poile (born the February 10th 1924 Strong with William (Ontario); deceased the January 4th 2005 with Vancouver (Colombia-British)) was a Canadian player of Hockey, trainer-chief, director-general and member of the executive council of the league.

It began its career in LNH with the Maple Leafs of Toronto in 1942 at the 18 years age. Thereafter he played for the Bruins of Boston, the Blackhawks of Chicago and the Rangers of New York for finally finishing his career as player in the WHL (Western League Hockey).

He becomes then director-general of the Flyers of Philadelphia and gains 2 cuts Stanley in 1974 and 1975. He is also responsible for the success of the Canucks of Vancouver which went finally cut in 1982.

In 1984, he becomes the police chief of the international Ligue of hockey, a league a notch lower than LNH and is established with the Temple of re-elected hockey in 1990.

The son of Bud Poile, David Poile knows to him also a long career in the LNH and became the first director-general of the Predators of Nashville.

Reached Parkinson's disease, he dies the January 4th 2005 in Vancouver.
