Bryaxis
Bryaxis (in Greek old Βρύαξις or Βρύασσις / Brúassis ) is a Greek sculptor, probably born with Athens
He worked much for the Diadoque S: Séleucos I {{er}} thus ordered to him a statue of Apollon for his temple with Daphné in the periphery of the new capital Antioche, as well as a bronze statue of Séleucos itself. With Alexandria, it carried out for Ptolémée I {{er}} the statue chryséléphantine of Sérapis.
It is however especially known for its participation, at the sides of Scopas, Léocharès and Timothéos, with the decoration of the Mausolée of Halicarnasse.
Rare fact for a sculptor of this period, one preserved one of his original works, identified by its signature, a votive base found on the Agora of Athens in 1891, which supported a bronze tripod, dedicated at the time of a victory in a contest of anthippasia (see opposite): it would be about an early work of the sculptor, before his departure for Asia.
