In the Scandinavian Mythology, Brunehilde girl of Wotan and Erda, was a warlike virgin who belonged to the Valkyrie S. It is one of heroins of the saga of Volsunga and of some poems of the '' Edda ''.

Origin of the character

The character of Brunehilde is inspired by the princess Visigoth E Brunehilde, married with the king mérovingien Sigebert Ier in 567. The topic of the fratricide, as well as the relations with the Huns constitute a historical part of Brunehilde.

Nibelungen

It belongs to the saga of the Song of Nibelungen . Later, Richard Wagner makes a central figure of it, under the German C-W communication “Brünnhilde”, of the tetralogy the Ring of Nibelung drawn from the legend éponyme. It appears in the Valkyrie , Siegfried and the Twilight of the gods .

  • In 2004, in German film the Ring crowned ( Boxing ring off the Nibelings ), Brunehilde is interpreted by the fair American actress Kristanna Loken.
