Brown Cloud of Asia
The brown cloud of Asia is immense a Nuage of Pollution of approximately 3 000 meters thickness, extending on a surface equivalent to that from the United States. This thick layer of fog is regarded as the larger pollution in the world .
The cloud recovers most of Asia for 4 months (from December to April) each année : the north of the Indian Ocean, the India, the Pakistan and most of the South Asia, of the Southeast Asia and the China are thus touched.
It was created by a cluster of particles and Polluant S resulting from the organic matter incinerations and industrial emissions. A notable example is the Incinération of Fumier in the Indian campaigns to use it as a fuel. The Brume itself is Toxique and has an unfavourable impact on the rain and the sunlight.
It is in 1999 that scientists drew the bell from alarme : after studyhaving studied it, they could highlight “ largest Pollution of the monde : a cloud which extends on a surface equivalent to that from the the United States, with a thickness varying between 2 and 3 kilometers ” ( Le Monde of June 23rd, 1999 ).
It formally was defined and measured following the research program Indian Ocean Experiment (INODEX) of the program of the United Nations for the environment (PNUE), carried out between 1995 and 2002.
