Brotherhood of the bad mutants

The Confrérie of the bad mutants ( Brotherhood off Evil Mutants ) indicates groups of mutants resulting from the universe of the Comic S of Marvel which followed one another under the same name. These mutants, persuaded of their superiority vis-a-vis the human normal ones, chose to be combined to achieve their objectives. The original Brotherhood appeared for the first time in Uncanny X-Men number 4, resulting from the creative brains of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

The Brotherhood of Magneto

The first chief of the Brotherhood is Magneto, a mutant able to control the magnetic fields. Because of its experiment traumatisante in the concentration camps during the Second world war, it kept a savage hatred of human and the will to change the world for the benefit of the mutants, able according to him of less destruction. For that, it recruits some mutants in margin of the company to found a team:

Quicksilvers and the Red Witch are twin and children of Magneto, although they are unaware of it all the three. The Brotherhood sees itself opposing X-Men, group of young mutants consisted the Professor Xavier, old knowledge of Magneto. When the EC-last is captured by a being Extra-terrestre named the Foreigner , the Brotherhood is dissolved. Quicksilvers and the Red Witch leave to join the famous team of the Vengeurs whereas the other members disperse.

Later, of return to earth, Magneto reconstitutes several times the Brotherhood. It integrates novel members like the Colossus, Unus Untouchable the or Vanisher.

The Brotherhood of Mystic

The mutant terrorist Mystique creates his own Confrérie of the bad mutants. The members of its team are:

The blow of glare of this team is the attempted murder of the senator Kelly, leader in the fight against the mutants. X-Men protect the senator against the Brotherhood and ruin the aggression.

The Brotherhood, without Malicia which joined X-Men, becomes then the heart of a governmental group called Freedom Force. The members of the Brotherhood engage in the fight against the mutants and the other groups of parahumains , in exchange of the immunity offered by the authorities. Other people then are briefly associated with this group, like Spirale, the second Spider-Woman, Estoc, the Crimson Commando, the Wall.

This group fights and is combined in turn with the other groups of mutants like the Avengers. With died of Destiny, Super Saber and Stonewall, at the time of a battle against Reavers, it east dissolves.

The Brotherhood of the Clamping plate

The Clamping plate also creates its own brotherhood of the bad mutants. The members of the team are:

The Brotherhood of Exodus

More recently, in the saga " Heroes and Villains" of Chuck Austen for the series X-Men , a new version of the Brotherhood appears. She is carried out by Exodus and comprises the following members:

After the death of his/her friend Sammy Avoids, killed by Black Tom, the Plague tries to destroy the Brotherhood. Exodus neutralizes it and launches the remainders of its group against the Institute of the young mutants of the Professor Xavier to be avenged for dead (connect) for Magneto. All the Brotherhood is beaten by the second Xorn, which sends them in a black hole.

Derived brotherhoods

In Ultimate X-Men , the Brotherhood of the bad mutants is called Brotherhood off Supremacy Mutant. ( Brotherhood of mutant supremacy ).

In X-Men: Evolution , the televised series of animation, and in the adaptations cinema of the series X-Men, the group of the bad mutants is called Confrérie of the mutants . In films, the group is composed of Magneto, Mystique, the Toad and Teeth of Saber. This one had never up to that point taken part in a Brotherhood but it is on this occasion that Marvel chooses to include it in the Brotherhoods of the comics.

Brotherhood the bad one or good mutants?

The Brotherhood is at the beginning a team of bad mutants, exact opposite of X-Men in her vision of the world and her objectives. She fights the ideals of peace between mutants and human of Professor Xavier. However, during time, under the influence of certain members or certain leaders, the Brotherhood is not completely any more bad. The use of the word bad ( Evil ) then is banished or explained like an irony.

Several members of the Brotherhood underwent attacks, brimades and hatred on behalf of the human not-mutants. That returned being wary them very with respect to the population and obliged them to become solitary for finally following the steps of leaders of the Brotherhood, more determined to attack rather than to undergo.

However, some members did not always follow the Brotherhood and left it after having understood that they made false route. In fact the case of Quicksilver and the Red Witch join the Avengers or of Malicia which leaves to X-Men. Even Magneto is not entirely side of the evil since it directs one moment the Xavier institute, and in an alternative history he becomes leader of X-Men to take again the torch of Xavier.
