The British Academy is the national academy of the Social sciences and social of the the United Kingdom.
The Academy was created by a royal Charter of 1902, it is made up of 750 academicians (Fellows) . Its complete name is: The British Academy for the Promotion off Historical, Philosophical and Philological Studies . It is organized by academic discipline in 18 sections, it is independent of the political power.
The election as an academician (Fellow) of British Academy recognizes the high-quality of academic work and the publications of the novel member in the field of the social sciences. The academicians (Fellows) are authorized to make follow their name of the letters FBA .
British Academy is chaired since 2005 by Onora O' Neill (born in 1941), Professor de Philosophie with Cambridge.
It is the British equivalent of the Academy of Science morals and political, of the Institut of France.
