Bovidae

The Bovidae ( Bovidae ) are a family of Mammifère S Ruminant S and Herbivore S which includes/understands ten subfamilies, of which in particular the Boviné S (or " Bovine s"), caprinés (which includes the ovine S) and Antilope S. This family was defined by John Edward Gray (1800-1875) in 1821.

Their main features are the following ones:

  • Stomach with four pockets adapted to the Rumination;
  • shoe with two fingers;
  • two horn S frontal persistent and hollow;
  • Teeth marked by the absence of Incisor S on the upper maxilla and the Canine absence of S.

Their natural habitat is very varied and extends since the artic regions to the tropical zones, and in particular in the areas of meadow S and Savane. One finds them at the origin in the old world (Eurasia, Africa) and in North America.

Subfamilies, principal kinds and some species

A mammal discovered in 1992, the Saola or Bœuf of Considering Quang ( Pseudoryx nghetinhensis ) seems to belong to the Bovinae and close to the kinds Bos and Bison , but its classification is not yet completely established.
