Both

Both is a Television channel public general practitioner of the French Communauté of Belgium pertaining to the public group Belgian Radio-Télévision of the French Community (RTBF).

History of the chain

De RTbis with Télé 2.TV

September 27th 1976, RTB lance a second channel of baptized television RTbis which proposes repeat broadcasts of the first chain.

RTbis becomes Télé 2.TV in 1979.

TV 21 and its reformatings

March 21st 1988 is born Télé 21 , second channel with whole share combining the event on line (mainly sporting) and the diffusion of films, music and documentary social and cultural.

Five years later day for day, Télé 21 yields the place to Arte 21 (RTBF enters then the G.E.I.E of ARTE in March 1993 as an associated member, this agreement will be suspended in March 1994) and Sport 21 which remains the chain of the sports event and large direct (channel divided with the programs of Arte).

March 1st 1997, the second channel, RTBF 21 , divides its offer of programs between RTBF Both , chain of multicasting of cultural programs, documentary and chains reception of the nonsporting events on line (Parliamentary commissions, musical Concours Queen Elizabeth for example) and Eurosport 21 which proposes " fenêtres" sporting programs produced by RTBF, inserted in the complete program of Eurosport. At the time of the Football world cup of 1998, the RTBF decides to diffuse the entirety of the matches on its two principal television channels, RTBF the One and RTBF Both. So that the largest audience has access to these programs, one carries out a redistribution of the transmitters, which makes it possible to collect the One and Both on the networks of cable television of course, but also by hertzian way, on the totality of the territory of the Walloon region and the Région of Brussels-Capital. This device will be maintained beyond the World cup, by resolution of the Board of Directors of July 13rd.

RTBF both

The second channel of the RTBF makes new skin in September 2003 by taking name both and by offering a new preparing, new emissions and new faces.

RTBF Both exchange of preparing in May 2005 to become simply Both . The chain reorganizes its offer of program in complementarity with those of the One
