Boïko Borisov

Boïko Borisov , of its complete name Boïko Metodiev Borisov - in Bulgarian: bg БойкоМетодиевБорисов -, is a Bulgarian Politician , born on June 13rd, 1959 with Bankya (oblast of Sofia-city).

He exerts the functions of mayor of Sofia, capital of the country, since November 8th, 2005.

Set on Karate since 1980, it was, during a time, trainer of the Bulgarian national team of karate. After having left the ministry for the Interior in 1990, in which it had occupied various employment, it founds a privately held company of safety.

After the come to power of the ex-king Siméon II (under the name of Siméon Sakskoburggotski) in 2001, Boïko Borisov occupies various stations of high ranking in the administration of the ministry for the Interior.

At the time of the legislative elections of June 25th, 2005, it is presented in two different districts, under the colors of the National movement Siméon II and is elected. He prefers however not to sit at the Parliament and, in October, presents himself to the town hall of Sofia, where he succeeds Minko Guerdjikov, which took over temporarily the duties since the resignation of Stefan Sofiyanski which, at the end of June, had preferred on its side to sit at the Parliament.

December 3rd, 2006, it founds a new party of center-right, Citoyens for the European development of Bulgaria (bg ГражданизаевропейскоразвитиенаБългария (of which the acronym GERB -   ГЕРБ in bulgare  - means Armorial bearings ). He entrusts the presidency of this new formation to Tsvetan Tsvetanov, former assistant of the mayor of Sofia, but in residence actually truth leader .

At the time of the first European elections organized in Bulgaria, on May 20th, 2007, the GERB makes good match with the list supported by the Prime Minister Serguei Stanichev, with approximately 25  % of the votes cast and 5 deputies out of 18.
