Boïens
The Boïens (of the Latin Boii ) are a Gallic Peuple, Celtes left de Gaulle to settle in Italy like in Central Europe.
Their people largely seem to have essaimé, since, in addition to they gave their name to the current Bohemia, one finds them in Gaulle in the area of Sancerre and all bottom Allier, like in the neighborhoods of Arcachon.
As a Gaulle
It is necessary to distinguish the Boii from Lyons, between the Elaver (Allier) and the Liger (the Loire), whose territory answers part of the Bourbonnais, and the Boïates of the Novempopulanie, whose territory is above the Pays of Buch in Gascogne. The Boii of Lyons were placed by César. They went down from a fraction of the soldiers of Sigovèse who had been established on the the Danube, and who had returned as a Gaulle with the Helvetii : in -58, the “remainder” of 32 000 Boïens started from Pannonia (Bratislava) migrant with the Helvètes for the area of Santons “was assigned with residence” by César under the monitoring of the éduens of Bibracte and Decetia, in the west of this pagus (all low-To combine it). It is on this territory that Gergobina (Gorgobina) is located, city which, according to Jules César, resists Vercingétorix during the Guerre of Gaules (vol. VII).
In Italy
At the beginning of fourth century BC, part of the people boïen emigrates since Gaulle in Italy where they settle in the area of Bologna in Romagna. They built a whole of cities whose capital was Felsina. The Boii had in north the Lingons, in the south the Apennin which separated them from the Étrurie. They were subjected by the Romains in -193.
Into Germanic
The Boii lived the Bohemia ( Boiohemum ), from where they were driven out by the Marcomans ; then they occupied the Bavaria, or were assimilated to German occupants to train new people (the Bavarii or Boioaria ). These 2 facts however were disputed. The Tolisboii of Galatie were undoubtedly also Boii . It is interesting to know that the town of Bohemia Brno decides “beurno” and that in the western part Allier Bourbonnais pronounces “Br” “bor”; “the beurouette” for “the wheelbarrow” and even with regard to the villages, one does not say “Brethon” but “Beurthon” (source Jean-Guy Lespinasse).
