The symmetrical differential indication is a method of transmission of signals on a Twisted pair. It consists in sending on a wire the signal and the other the opposite signal. One reconstitutes the signal on arrival by carrying out the difference of the signals.
For example, so on a wire 1 is coded by a tension of 5 V and 0 are coded by 0 V, then on other wire 1 is coded by -5 V and 0 are coded by 0 V. On arrival one makes the difference of the signals; if the difference is 10 V, one received one 1; if the difference is one 0, one received one zero.
Even if a electromagnetic pertubation degrades the signal, the difference is unchanged. One carries out a transmission thus relatively immune with the Bruit.
Example: A parasitic tension of 2 V is inserted in the cable whereas one is coding one 1: the received signal will be 7 V and -3 V (instead of 5 V and -5 V). However, the difference is unchanged; it is worth always 10 V, which ensures a decoding of the 1 without ambiguity.
