Biscay
The Biscay (in Spanish: Vizcaya , and in Basque Bizkaia ) is a province north of the Spain. It forms the north-western part of the autonomous community of the Basque Country.
It is bordered by the provinces of Cantabrie, of Burgos, Guipúzcoa, Álava and by the sea Cantabrique (the Bay of Biscay).
Of the 1.133.444 inhabitants (in 2002) of the province of Biscay, approximately 30 % live the capital Bilbao (Basque Bilbo ).
Guernica, a city considered as centers it spiritual Basque Country, is located in this province.
The other important cities are Barakaldo, Portugalete, Durango, and Balmaseda.
The name Bizkaia means montueux .
