Bir Lehlou (also spelled Bir-Lehlou and Bir Lalou ) is a city in the North-East of the the Western Sahara. The name is a transcription of the Arab Hassaniya, and means “the source (water) soft”. A standard Arab translation would be “bi' R Al-hilwa” (بئرالحلوة).

Located at the east of the “Moroccan Wall”, it is the temporary capital of the Arab République sahraouie democratic, the proclaimed capital, Laâyoune, being under Moroccan control .
