Biphobie

The biphobie is the fear of, discrimination against, or the hatred of the Bisexuel S (though it also appears against the pansexuels). It expressly does not include the Homophobie or the Hétérophobie because there are Stéréotype S specific to the bisexual ones.

Stereotypes biphobes

There is grinds stereotype on the bisexual ones, among which one finds: that they tend to be ribalds, that they practice the Polygamie and/or the echangism, and that they are “lost”. Sometimes, the bisexual ones are shown to spread the sexually transmitted diseases in the communities hétéro- and homosexual. A related stereotype is that where the bisexual ones are supposed to be ready to sleep with no matter whom; that encourages the exchangers and the men heterosexuals to pay an undesirable attention towards the bisexual women, and encourages as people to consider as the bisexual men raise the extension risks of the AIDS.

Often however, the heterosexuals and the homosexual ones add to it stereotypes based on the homophobie or the hétérophobie. The homophobes can regard the bisexual ones as sexually nonconformist, and the hétérophobes are numerous to think that the bisexual ones maintain their “privileges” within the community hétéro while collaborating with it, while they also benefit from lifestyle LGBT.

Another very common stereotype is that according to which the bisexual women are really the hétérosexuelles ones wanting to draw the attention, while the bisexual men are the homosexual ones being too afraid to recognize their true sexual orientation.

Certain people regard as biphobic the conviction that people are either heterosexuals, or homosexual, and thus that the bisexuality does not exist (a belief spread among the hétéro- and homosexual, making them Monosexuel S).

A study made in 2002 claims that the men being identified as bisexual do not react in the same way vis-a-vis the pornographic material including/understanding only men as to the same type of material including/understanding only women. They excited four times more in front of one or the other. However, the bisexuality does not imply an equal attraction for the two sexes. Opponents claim that the genital excitation vis-a-vis the homosexual pornographic material is not a good indicator of sexual orientation. They also announce that a third of the men in the study did not test any excitation, and requires why that does not want to say that a third of the men is Asexuel S. the study, and the article of the NewYork Times which spoke about it in 2005, were denounced like defective and biphobic. Lynn Conway criticized the author of the study, J. Michael Bailey, quoting her discussed protocol and showing that the study was not scientifically repeated nor confirmed by independent researchers.

A frequent reason of the negative attitudes vis-a-vis the bisexuality at the lesbians is the fear that bisexual will leave a woman for a man - and vice versa for the homosexual men, who fear being left for a woman. The man heterosexual is famous to have an unjust advantage which had at the same time with the Sexisme and the homophobie.

The bisexual ones are often the object of attacks homophobes by people who think that only the heterosexuality is acceptable. They can also be the target of attacks hétérophobes on behalf of the homosexual ones - this is especially widespread among the bisexual men.

Many anti-bisexual - and particularly among the teenagers - believe that the bisexuality is a fashion popularized by bisexual artists. Some also believe that it is a stage by which one passes all, and which the bisexual ones are thus wrong to differently insist. Others think that the bisexual ones seek emotional or sexual attention. These claims do not have any scientific base.

Some feminist radical lesbians think that the bisexual women yield in front of the patriarchal system. Others say that people who are against the bisexual ones are not very sure of their own sexuality, just as the homophobes. Many biphobes is also homophobes.

One can summarize that the not-heterosexuals do not seem beings less the sexists, identitairement speaking.
