William Patrick " Bill" Dineen (born the September 18th 1932 with Arvida in the Canadian province of the Quebec) is a former professional player and former trainer of Hockey.

History

It began its career while playing for the St Michael' S Majors de Toronto in the Ontario Hockey League .

It began in National league from hockey in 1953 with the Red Wings de Détroit for which it played until in 1958 gaining with the passage two cuts Stanley in 1954 and 1955. In 1958, it joined the Blackhawks of Chicago for what was its last season in LNH.

After 1958, it united the rows of the American Ligue of hockey where it evolved/moved successively for the teams of the Bisons of Buffalo, of the Barons de Cleveland, the Americans of Rochester and the As of Quebec. It finished its career of player in the WHL with the Totems of Seattle then the Spurs of Denver.

Small characteristic: during its career, it was exchanged with three resumptions in return of same player: Bob Bailey .

Its two last seasons of player were marked by beginnings of trainer, replacing at the end of each season the trainer in place. When it hung up again the shoes 1971, it continued this career by involving its last team, Spurs of Denver. It joined the following season, the Aeros of Houston, the Worldwide association of hockey which it led to the title in 1974 and 1975. It passed septs years in the AMH, six years with the reins of Spurs and as trainer of the Whalers of New England. In 1983, it was engaged by the Red Wings of Adirondack of the LAH. Two of its six seasons spent to the head of the team were again crowned success, gaining the Calder cut in 1986 and 1989. It was honoured by the LAH in 1985 and 1986, gaining the title of better trainer of the season (Trophée Louis A.R. Pieri). It is besides one of the rare trainers to have gained this trophy twice.

In 1991, it was named trainer of Red Wings de Detroit but after two difficult seasons where the frankness was not qualified for the eliminatory series, it was dismissed and put a term at its career of trainer.

Three of its sons, Gordon, Peter and Kevin also played in LNH. Kevin was involved by his/her father at the time of his two seasons of trainers of Red Wings of Philadelphia.
